Master of Divinity

Master of Divinity – General

The Master of Divinity degree is designed to prepare persons for leadership responsibilities in congregations and other settings. The electives in this track allow students to choose an area of specialization or a combination of courses most useful to their unique ministry.

The Master of Divinity degree is the required degree for admission to the Doctor of Ministry degree and is recommended by the Association of Theological Schools as the appropriate foundational degree for a research doctorate (i.e., Th.D. or Ph.D.). This 90 credit hour program (30 full courses) can be completed in three years by a full-time student.

Master of Divinity – Pastoral

This degree program is designed to prepare students for vocational pastoral ministry. The curriculum, program structure and ministry internships prepare people in areas of biblical languages, understanding and interpretation of the Biblical text, theology, communication, leadership, spiritual formation and spiritual gifts and skills to care for and instruct God’s people.

Master of Divinity – Research

This degree has been designed to prepare a limited number of students who wish to pursue doctoral studies (Ph.D. or Th.D.). It requires a more focused concentration of courses beyond the core curriculum and students may only be considered for admission after completion of at least 10 Seminary courses and meeting other admissions criteria.

Master of Divinity – Intercultural Studies

The Intercultural (Missions) Track of the Master of Divinity program, given in conjunction with the Cross-Training Certificate in Mission, is designed to prepare students for professional missional ministry in Canada or internationally. The curriculum prepares leaders by developing their leadership skills and spiritual gifts to evangelize, instruct, and serve those outside and inside the Church, regardless of their context.
